Best Wine Bottle Openers Reviewed
1. Best Overall: Secura Electric Wine Opener
Product Ratings
Ease of Use | 5/5 |
Quality | 4/5 |
Features | 4/5 |
Design | 5/5 |
Price | 4/5 |
Brand: Secura | Type of Wine Opener: Electric | Weight: 2 lbs | Dimensions: 4” x 7.5” x 2.9” | Features: Quiet operation, comes in 6 colors | Includes: Electric wine opener, removable foil cutter, charging base, user manual
What We Liked
- Quiet operation
- Comes in 6 color options
- Good battery life
What We Didn’t Like
- Can damage corks if not aligned properly
- Very easy to overcharge the battery
This electric opener by Secura features a user-friendly two-button design with quiet operation.
Our testing found that this cordless electric wine bottle opener held up the best under pressure compared to other wine openers.
It held a consistent charge after uncorking several bottles of wine, and it did so without skipping a beat.
We had more consistent results when using the removable foil cutter compared to any other opener with an included foil cutter from this list.
This wine bottle opener would make a great gift or addition to your home bar.
Materials & Quality
You can find reasonably priced electric wine bottle openers on Amazon in the droves, but how many of them are worth buying?
There are plenty of disappointments out there, but this is not one of them. The sturdy stainless steel construction doesn’t add much weight but does help the corkscrew effectively pull corks out with ease.
You might be tempted to spend less on other non-electric models, but we think it’s worth exerting almost no physical effort for the same results.
Ease of Use
If you have the counter space, it may be tempting to display this electric corkscrew at all times, but we would caution against overcharging.
While the battery life is great for the price, the internal battery can lose its efficacy due to overcharging.
Secura recommends charging it once every 3 months when not in regular use. Our way around this was to unplug the charger from the base of the stand and plug it in when we knew it needed a charge.
Other reviewers also seemed to be frustrated that it doesn’t auto-align to corks, so if you don’t have the cork lined up properly, it can make it harder to remove the cork by damaging it.
That was not our experience, and in our opinion, this is probably the best electric wine opener if you love to drink wine. We had no trouble aligning the corks, and so long as you’re aware of this, you shouldn’t either.
2. Runner Up: Oster Cordless Electric Wine Opener
Product Ratings
Ease of Use | 5/5 |
Quality | 3/5 |
Features | 4/5 |
Design | 4/5 |
Price | 5/5 |
Brand: Oster | Type of Wine Opener: Electric | Weight: 1 lb | Dimensions: 5” x 15” x 5.3”| Features: Ergonomic soft grip, lightweight design | Includes: Electric wine opener, included cutter, charging base, power adapter, user manual
What We Liked
- Lightweight opener is convenient
- Soft grip handle is comfortable to use
- Compact charging base
What We Didn’t Like
- The cork can get stuck on the corkscrew
With over 40,000 rave reviews on Amazon alone, it’s clear why so many wine drinkers are adding this gadget to their bar cart.
Its slim and lightweight design offers the sense of reliability and comfort you’ll appreciate when you open wine bottles.
Known for its offering of budget-friendly kitchen appliances, Oster’s line of electric wine openers is worth consideration.
Materials & Quality
Nobody wants to hassle with a bulky product that overcomplicates the process. This Oster cordless electric wine bottle opener meets those requirements with ease.
The Oster electric corkscrew is constructed of lightweight plastic that keeps it from being bulky and the overall cost low.
That said, we would prefer it to have a more durable structure. When uncorking wine bottles, it can struggle to fully pull corks out. We think this has to do with the lower quality plastic.
Ease of Use
Reviewers love this wine opener for a reason, and we agree with them. It’s an affordable offering that should have a place in most wine drinkers’ homes.
The lower-quality materials make this opener very lightweight and easy to use compared to other heavy wine openers.
3. Most Advanced Features: Coravin Model One Advanced Wine Bottle Opener
Product Ratings
Ease of Use | 5/5 |
Quality | 5/5 |
Features | 5/5 |
Design | 4/5 |
Price | 1/5 |
Brand: Coravin | Type of Wine Opener: Wine pourer/preserver | Weight: 9 lbs | Dimensions: 3” x 5.5” x 8.5” | Features: Teflon coated needle for preserving and pouring wine, uses argon gas capsules for pressure | Includes: Coravin wine preserver, 2 argon gas capsules
What We Liked
- Preserves wine well
- Easy to use
- You can pour wine without removing the cork
What We Didn’t Like
- You need to replace argon capsules
- The unit is expensive
More than anything else, this advanced wine opener from Coravin is worth talking about. It is a wine opener, but it’s more than that. It allows you to pour your wine directly out of the bottle without allowing air in.
It uses a Teflon-coated needle inserted through any cork and argon gas capsules to pressurize the wine just enough to pour your favorite wine a glass at a time.
Just remove the needle when you’re done, and Coravin says you can preserve your wine for years.
Who Is This Best For?
It’s best for serious wine enthusiasts looking to preserve their wine. If you’re a wine collector, this device will allow you to easily sample wines and still preserve them for your collection.
Coravin is a brand built on innovation in wine. They constantly challenge the status quo in the wine world and have come up with some impressive solutions to everyday problems.
You’re investing in the technology when you buy this wine preservation system.
This is a great product for wine lovers who don’t want to drink the whole bottle every time one is opened.
It’s ideal for those who want to try multiple wines without sacrificing the integrity of the wine by fully opening it.
Materials & Quality
This Coravin wine preserver feels sturdy and is not hard to use. Our only complaint is we don’t love the idea of replacing argon capsules every 15 glasses or so.
We think that this wine saver is worth the experience if you’re interested in the technology and have the money to spare. But replacing argon capsules can add up quickly if you plan to use this device regularly.

4. Best Value: Smaier Corkscrew
Product Ratings
Ease of Use | 4/5 |
Quality | 3/5 |
Features | 5/5 |
Design | 3/5 |
Price | 4/5 |
Brand: Smaier | Type of Wine Opener: Rabbit lever corkscrew | Weight: 2 lbs | Dimensions: 2” x 11.1” x 3.3” | Features: Rosewood box, set of wine accessories | Includes: Wine bottle opener, foil cutter, wine stopper, drip ring, wine pourer and stopper, olecranon pourer, two additional corkscrews
What We Liked
- Includes a variety of wine tools
- Includes extra corkscrews
What We Didn’t Like
- The cutter doesn’t work as well as others we tested
Purchasing all of the accessories and tools separately would be a big task. Fortunately, this Smaier wine opener set has it all. Not only is it a great starter kit, but the accessories are also worth having.
For most bottles we tested on the foil cutter was inconsistent but still capable of getting the job done.
Quality & Materials
This wine opener set includes a foil cap cutter, wine stopper, drip ring, pourer and stopper, olecranon pourer, two additional corkscrews, and a rabbit lever wine opener.
Let’s start with the wine opener. While it works just as expected, it isn’t really among the best wine openers on this list, but when paired with all of the included accessories, it creates an undeniable value.
Ease of Use
When we opened the box, we found a useful diagram showing how to use this rabbit lever wine opener, and it was just as easy to use as the pictures.
However, it still took some physical effort to fully extract the corks.
We were disappointed in the quality of the foil cutter simply because it sat awkwardly on some wine bottles, which made for uneven cuts. It still cut, but it also lacked the finesse of other foil cutters in this list.
The drip ring was a welcome inclusion and has not been included with any other wine keys we tested.
If you’re unfamiliar, the drip ring goes around the lip of the bottle and catches drops of wine from running down the bottle while pouring.
Everything else was pretty standard but made for a well-rounded wine opener kit.
5. Best for Occasional Use: Beneno Store Corkscrew
Product Ratings
Ease of Use | 4/5 |
Quality | 4/5 |
Features | 3/5 |
Design | 4/5 |
Price | 5/5 |
Brand: Beneno | Type of Wine Opener: Winged corkscrew | Weight: ½ lb | Dimensions: 7.5” x 2.7” x 1.7” | Features: Built-in bottle cap opener, ergonomic grip | Includes: Wing corkscrew
What We Liked
- The gears glide past each other
- Built-in bottle cap opener
- Multiple color options
What We Didn’t Like
- Could be made of a better materials
If this wine key looks familiar, it’s because manual corkscrews like this are everywhere. They sit behind just about every bar and home bar and for a good reason.
This Beneno winged corkscrew is efficient and versatile for the occasional wine drinker.
It can be tough to justify purchasing a new wine opener for the occasional drinker, especially an electric opener, but you can’t go wrong with winged corkscrews.
Quality & Materials
Everyone should have a wine key on hand and for the price, this one makes a good candidate. The geared design works well and glides during cork removal but the downside in our opinion is the quality.
While it is a handy tool to have around, it is also made of 100% zinc alloy. That means it won’t corrode, but we would prefer it if it were sturdier and made of higher quality material.
Some reviewers report being frustrated by the rivets that hold the wings in place breaking after repeated use.
We agree that they should be more durable, but we also believe that this will still work just fine for less frequent users.
Ease of Use
These winged corkscrews are probably going to get more use as a bottle opener than a wine opener, but that’s okay.
This Benino corkscrew is a handy tool nonetheless. That just means that it will be within reach when a bottle of wine needs opening.
This wine opener has no issue with synthetic or natural corks, offering a reasonable amount of versatility overall. But if you’re a seasoned wine drinker, you’re probably better off investing in something more robust.
6. Best for Enthusiasts: Brookstone Compact Wine Opener
Product Ratings
Ease of Use | 4/5 |
Quality | 5/5 |
Features | 3/5 |
Design | 4/5 |
Price | 4/5 |
Brand: Brookstone | Type of Wine Opener: Manual corkscrew | Weight: 4 oz | Dimensions: 7.2” x 3.7” x 7.3” | Features: Compact, lightweight design | Includes: Corkscrew and foil cutter
What We Liked
- Uncorks quickly
- Great leverage
- Works on any cork
What We Didn’t Like
- Expensive for a lever corkscrew
Lever corkscrews are known for their reliability and consistency. Despite the steep price for this Brookstone model, we believe it to be a high-quality wine opener worth the attention of any enthusiast.
Quality & Materials
We like the ease of use and the grip you get on the bottle’s neck with this lever opener. It is probably the best lever corkscrew on this list because of the way it handles natural or synthetic cork with ease.
It’s also fast. Compared to even the best electric wine openers or lever wine openers, this one was consistently fast.
It helps that there is no charging or batteries involved, making it easier to justify using it on a regular basis.
Ease of Use
We always felt that we had a good grip on the bottle and didn’t have to exert ourselves to move this vertical lever corkscrew, which earns it bonus points in our book.
We don’t think that this is unreasonably priced for a quality wine opener but it is more costly than we would prefer for a manual corkscrew.
7. Best for Dinner Parties: OXO Steel Lever Corkscrew
Product Ratings
Ease of Use | 4/5 |
Quality | 5/5 |
Features | 3/5 |
Design | 5/5 |
Price | 3/5 |
Brand: OXO | Type of Wine Opener: Manual corkscrew | Weight: 1 ½ lbs | Dimensions: 2.5” x 7.6” x 7.2” | Features: Integrated foil cutter, non-slip grip | Includes: Corkscrew, wine foil cutter, additional corkscrew
What We Liked
- Built-in foil cutter
- Ergonomic grip
- Uncorks bottles quickly
What We Didn’t Like
- It’s expensive for a lever corkscrew
This OXO lever corkscrew is very comparable to our previous entry, but we placed it into this category because the soft-grip handle makes it more comfortable to use when opening multiple bottles of wine at once.
We love gathering with our friends and family over dinner or wine as often as possible.
When there are many guests and several wine options to choose from, it has always been easier for us to leave an opener on the table for easy access, and this corkscrew is perfect.
Quality & Materials
This vertical lever corkscrew includes a foil cutter in the handle and a nonstick screw. It’s easy for anyone to open their preferred bottle of wine or for the host to open multiple bottles without hand fatigue.
Ease of Use
While most electric wine openers pride themselves on being able to open a certain number of corks on one charge, sometimes we forget to charge the unit and need something more suitable for the occasion.
This lever corkscrew is perfect for comfortably and quickly opening large numbers of bottles – no batteries needed.
8. Best for Travel: Barvivo Professional Waiters Corkscrew
Product Ratings
Ease of Use | 3/5 |
Quality | 4/5 |
Features | 4/5 |
Design | 5/5 |
Price | 5/5 |
Brand: Barvivo | Type of Wine Opener: Waiters corkscrew | Weight: 4 oz | Dimensions: 4.7” x 0.6” x 1.2” | Features: Double hinged fulcrum, comes in 7 color variants, stainless steel design | Includes: Built-in bottle cap opener, serrated foil cutter
What We Liked
- Sturdy, beautiful construction
- Multiple color choices
- Compact design the price
What We Didn’t Like
- Not the easiest to use
This stainless steel waiter’s corkscrew comes in 7 different handle options and makes for a confident travel companion. And by travel, we mean on a picnic or road trip, not through airport security.
Quality & Materials
Barvivo’s take on the classic waiter’s friend style of wine key makes it on this list because of its elegance, affordability, and stainless steel construction.
No wine cork matches this sleek wine multi-tool with a little bit of muscle.
Ease of Use
Any commercial waiter or casual enthusiast will be able to use the featured serrated foil cutter and remove the cork on a bottle of their (or the customer’s) choosing.
We would directly compare it to a more affordable alternative to a Le Creuset Waiter’s Friend.
9. Most Unique: Monopol Westmark Cork Puller
Product Ratings
Ease of Use | 3/5 |
Quality | 5/5 |
Features | 2/5 |
Design | 5/5 |
Price | 4/5 |
Brand: Monopol | Type of Wine Opener: Ah-so cork puller | Weight: 2.5 oz | Dimensions: 11” x 6.5” x 1” | Features: German cast metal design | Includes: Ah-so cork puller, decorate case, gift box
What We Liked
- Sleek design
- Included sheath
- Durable steel prongs
What We Didn’t Like
- Not designed for all corks
If you’re familiar with the ah-so wine opener style of wine key, you’ll know that these are best for stubborn corks, brittle corks, and older bottles.
It takes some getting used to, but it isn’t very complicated once you figure it out.
Tough corks are no match for this simplified tool. Check out this video to learn How to use an Ah-So Wine Tool. This is our pick for wine openers when extracting natural cork.
The ah-so style of wine openers requires precision and practice, but not much else.
It is admittedly not the best with synthetic corks in our experience.
10. Best Easy Wine Opener: Flauno Electric Wine Opener
Product Ratings
Ease of Use | 5/5 |
Quality | 3/5 |
Features | 3/5 |
Design | 4/5 |
Price | 4/5 |
Brand: Flauno | Type of Wine Opener: Electric | Weight: 1.5 lbs | Dimensions: 9.9” x 1.8” x 1.8” | Features: Full wine opener set | Includes: Electric opener, cutter, aerator pourer, vacuum wine stopper, charging cord, user manual
What We Liked
- Includes an aerator and accessories
- Powerful motor
- Runs on rechargeable batteries
What We Didn’t Like
- Some customers complain of a lack of power
We would compare this to a Rabbit automatic electric corkscrew or the Oster electric wine opener on this list. If your objective is to easily remove the cork in any bottle, this will do it.
This pick was made for the arthritic wine drinker that needs the easiest and most reliable opener. Our testing made us feel that the operation of this product aligns with those needs the most.
Reviewers tout the design and utility that Flauno provides and we love the included aerator and other useful accessories.
We also love that it’s a rechargeable unit that looks sleek on the counter and works perfectly every time.
The Winner
The Secura Electric Wine Opener stood out to us because of its ease of use, stylish design, and affordability.
If you’re a wine drinker or know someone who is, this is a contender for the best electric wine opener at this price point.

How to Choose Your Perfect Wine Bottle Opener
There are so many great wine bottle openers out there, and so many of them look the same. So how do you choose the right one?
Here are a few things we considered when choosing ones to test as well as picking wine bottle openers for our homes.
Consider Your Needs
We included a variety of products on this list that are capable of opening or pouring any wine to satisfy the needs of different buyers.
Consider how often you need to open wine bottles. Do you open a new bottle every night or on special occasions? Do you have dinners and parties where you must open an array of bottles at once?
If you’re investing in an upgrade, you’re probably looking for something new and different. However, keep in mind your habits before launching into a brand-new wine tech.
Finally, think about which type of cork your favorite wines have before you choose. Different openers work better on natural or synthetic corks.
Electric or Manual?
Waiters might prefer to use a manual wine key that slips into their pocket, while homeowners usually prefer the convenience of an electric opener.
Nobody would blame you for wanting one of each. We love to have options for all occasions. We like the electric openers for effortless de-corking, but we always have a backup if we forget to charge it.
If you decide to go with an electric opener, just be sure that you’re not overcharging your device or forgetting to charge it altogether, as it can negatively impact the battery life.
Enjoy Your Wine
It doesn’t matter what you choose so long as you can enjoy your selection and the community that comes with it.

Honorable Mentions
Here’s a brief look at the 8 options that didn’t make our best wine opener list.
1. HiCoup Professional Waiters Corkscrew – Considered for Best for Travel
While we loved all of the different color options and the compact design of this waiter’s corkscrew (at first), we noticed a bit of wobble after only a few uses.
We wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt, but other users have also commented on the awkwardness of the design. We prefer to use the sturdier Barvivo Professional Waiters Corkscrew instead.
2. Pulltap’s Waiters Corkscrew – Considered for Best for Travel
As one of the more simply styled waiter’s corkscrews that we tested, this one worked as expected, but that’s about it, there was nothing extraordinary.
The Barvivo Professional Waiters Corkscrew is sturdier with more variations, that’s why it’s our pick.
3. Ozeri Nouveaux Electric Wine Opener – Considered for Easiest to Use
This wine opener is definitely easy to use if you aren’t one of the unfortunate buyers that received a unit with charging issues.
Users reported that despite the claim that it could open 40 bottles on a single charge, their experiences didn’t support it.
While we weren’t directly affected by this, we did notice some power deficiencies that could support their frustrations. In comparison, the Flauno Electric Wine Opener outperforms it and can be used one-handed.
4. Wine Ziz Wine Opener – Considered for Most Unique
This wine opener acts as a pump. Insert the needle fully into the cork and give it a few pumps and air pressure will force the cork out. We would compare it to a bicycle pump, but for wine lovers.
However, some unlucky reviewers warn against tricky corks and producing too much pressure in the bottle.
In our opinion, the Monopol Westmark Cork Puller works better and is more satisfying once you get the hang of it.
5. Cuisinart Wine Opener – Considered for Easiest to Use
We appreciated the ergonomic and simple design that made it ultra-easy to use, but we also found that the attached corkscrew just wasn’t long enough to accommodate every type of cork.
When compared side by side, the Flauno Electric Wine Opener also wasn’t as bulky or heavy and was quicker to extract different kinds of corks.
The smaller design makes it easier for people with arthritis to enjoy their wine with ease.
6. Wine Enthusiast Electric Wine Bottle Opener – Considered for Best for Enthusiasts
This electric wine bottle opener was promising at first, it had all the makings of an enthusiast’s wine opener.
We found it couldn’t consistently handle synthetic corks without sometimes forcing them further into the bottle.
For that reason, we think that wine enthusiasts would prefer the consistency provided by the Brookstone Compact Wine Opener instead.
7. Coravin Model Two Wine Preservation System – Considered for Most Advanced Features
This second-generation model is arguably the most advanced wine tool on our list.
We like the darker, more modern aesthetic and the more ergonomic grip that allows you to pour and preserve your wine without allowing air into the bottle.
But the new model just isn’t different enough. You can try out the Coravin Model One Advanced Wine Bottle Opener for considerably less and still get all of the main benefits.
8. OXO Corkscrew – Considered for Best for Occasional Users
At this point, we’re probably just splitting hairs because it has all of the same functionality as our other winged corkscrew. In fact, we really like that it comes with a foil cutter built into the design.
But we picked the Beneno Store Corkscrew for the occasional user that would benefit from a bottle cap opener and sleeker design. It’s sturdier and more versatile for any home bar setup.
